A New Chapter. The Same Mission. A Bigger Horizon.
To the DivInc community of founders, funders, partners, mentors, students, and supporters,
Nearly ten years ago, we launched DivInc with a simple belief: potential is universal, but access to opportunity is not.
Together, we chose to build something about it.
Since then, we’ve supported the launch of more than 140 startups, with more than half still operating today. Our founders have raised over $28 million in early-stage capital. We’ve celebrated successful exits and national visibility for companies that began right here in our ecosystem. Through our NextGen Internship Program, we are creating real economic mobility for college students and families across Texas.
What we built is bigger than programs. It is community. It is infrastructure. It is proof that when talent is resourced equitably, outcomes reflect capability, not barriers.
As DivInc enters its second decade, our work must evolve. Access remains essential; but the ownership of companies, capital, and long-term value creation is how impact compounds. We are focused on strengthening economic contribution from the overlooked majority; the economic core of the real economy and ensuring that entrepreneurship translates into sustainable wealth and generational opportunity.
To support this next era, I will be intentionally transitioning from CEO into the role of Founder & Strategic Advisor as part of a deliberate succession plan designed to position DivInc for long-term durability and scale. This is not a departure from the mission. It is a deepening of it.
DivInc was never built to depend on one leader. It was built to outlast all of us. I will remain actively engaged in advancing capital architecture, ownership systems, and long-horizon strategies that strengthen the ecosystems we’ve built. In this next chapter, I look forward to collaborating with capital allocators, family offices, private and corporate foundations, and venture philanthropy leaders committed to advancing long-horizon impact, capital architecture, and system-level economic transformation.
DivInc is strong. Our founders are strong. Our network is strong. And the next decade demands even greater strength. We built access. Now we build ownership.
The next decade begins now.
With gratitude and forward momentum,
Preston L. James II
