MISSION COLLECTIVE

Where ideas become impact.

DivInc’s Mission Collective gives founders and organizations the structure to launch, fund, and grow mission-driven initiatives without forming a nonprofit, removing the barriers so you can focus on building and scaling your impact from day one.

Build what matters and be part of something bigger. We’re inviting a limited group of founders and partners to join Mission Collective, with opportunities to apply or connect and help shape what comes next.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is fiscal sponsorship?

Fiscal sponsorship allows mission-driven initiatives to operate under an established nonprofit’s legal and tax-exempt status without forming their own 501(c)(3). For example, a startup focused on closing the digital divide through AI education and workforce training could use fiscal sponsorship to secure grant funding, accept donations, and launch pilot programs without first establishing a standalone nonprofit entity. This creates a faster, more accessible path to raising funds, launching programs, and building operational momentum while concentrating on impact and execution.

Who is this program designed for?

This program is designed for founders, teams, and organizations leading mission-aligned work that delivers public benefit and community impact. We work with initiatives ready to move from idea to execution and seeking operational support, strategic infrastructure, and an ecosystem to accelerate growth.

At this time, projects must maintain a U.S.-based headquarters or primary operating presence.

What types of projects are a good fit?

We support projects that are grounded in purpose, demonstrate clear community impact, and align with DivInc’s broader mission and ecosystem.

Applicants may range from individual founders and early-stage initiatives to LLCs and organizations preparing to scale into formal corporate or nonprofit structures. While projects may be at different development stages, teams should demonstrate leadership structure and operational capacity.

Additional documentation may be requested during the vetting process, including organizational structure and leadership information.

What does DivInc provide as a fiscal sponsor?

DivInc provides the operational and administrative infrastructure to support mission-driven work. This includes financial oversight, compliance management, grant and fund administration, reporting support, and systems to responsibly manage incoming funds.

We also provide guidance, tools, and back-end support to help projects strengthen fundraising efforts and operational sustainability.

What responsibilities remain with the project team?

Project teams retain ownership of their vision, strategy, and execution. Your team is responsible for leading the work, building partnerships, driving fundraising, and advancing the project’s mission and outcomes.

Unless otherwise outlined in writing, project teams also retain ownership of their intellectual property during the sponsorship relationship.

Do I need to be a nonprofit to apply?

No. Fiscal sponsorship is specifically designed for projects that want to operate with nonprofit support and oversight without immediately establishing a standalone nonprofit entity.

How does funding work under fiscal sponsorship?

Funds raised for a sponsored project are administered through DivInc and directed toward advancing the approved mission and activities of that initiative.

While DivInc does not directly raise funds for sponsored projects, we provide operational support, infrastructure, guidance, and tools to assist project teams in developing effective fundraising strategies and strengthening funding readiness.

Is there a cost to participate?

Yes. Fiscal sponsorship includes an administrative fee structure that enables compliance oversight, financial administration, reporting, and operational support.

Current sponsorship fees generally range from 7–10% of grant or managed funding, depending on project scope, complexity, and support needs. Additional administrative fees may apply and are reviewed during onboarding.

How long can a project remain under fiscal sponsorship?

Every project operates on a different timeline. Some initiatives use fiscal sponsorship as a long-term structure, while others use it as a transitional step toward establishing an independent nonprofit or corporate entity.

Can I transition out of fiscal sponsorship later?

Yes. Fiscal sponsorship can serve as a bridge toward your next stage of growth. If your team decides to establish an independent organization or evolve into a different structure, DivInc can help support that transition process where appropriate.

How do I get started?

The process starts with a discovery conversation. This lets your team and DivInc better understand goals, alignment, operating requirements, and long-term vision to determine whether fiscal sponsorship is the right fit.

Is there a selection process?

Yes. We are intentionally onboarding a limited number of projects to ensure strong alignment and provide meaningful support during this phase of growth.

Projects are evaluated based on numerous factors, including:

  • Mission and ecosystem alignment
  • Community impact potential
  • Founder and leadership commitment
  • Operational capacity
  • Financial viability and sustainability potential

What makes DivInc’s approach different?

DivInc’s work has always centered on expanding access, building opportunity, and supporting founders whose ideas have consistently faced barriers to resources and visibility.

Through fiscal sponsorship, we are extending that commitment by helping mission-driven initiatives launch and grow with the operational support, ecosystem access, and strategic infrastructure needed to create long-term impact.
